Special Dance Workshop Series

WAACKING Workshop

W*ACKING or WH/AACKING Workshop

Step into the bold, unapologetic world of Waacking—a high-energy, expressive dance born in Los Angeles' underground club scene in the 1970s. Created predominantly by the gay Black and Latine community, this iconic style is all about reclaiming individuality, storytelling, and self-celebration.

Waacking/Whacking/Punking is more than just arm movements—it’s full-body expression, musicality, and attitude. Inspired by classic Hollywood icons, drag queens, Bruce Lee, and even Looney Tunes, this style blends drama, elegance, and strength. With roots in punking (the original name of the style) and posing, every move tells a story and makes the music visible.

What to Expect:

  • A dynamic warm-up to unlock your body’s flow

  • Fundamental techniques to master clean, precise movements

  • Freestyle drills & community exercises to build confidence and creativity

  • A final combo to bring it all together and slay the dance floor
